Wednesday night, we finally hosted an open house for our new location. They stopped seeing patients at noon and I'm pretty sure there was a buzzing noise outside our building... praying for a good turn out, running around, going through boxes, finally hanging pictures in exam rooms and the hallways and the conference room. We all brought platters and flowers and decorations from our homes to spruce it up a little more. Daniel changed his sign out front to say "Open House...Welcome Doctors"... Thanks to Sharon and Lulu, the food and drink was plentiful and all set to go.. and so at 5:00, we waited.
Around 5:30, people started coming and they just kept coming and coming until 8:30. That's when I came home to relieve our wonderful friend and babysitter, Annette. I was encouraged and blessed to meet several docs that I've heard so much about. Dr. Erickson was my favorite, by far. He's a Believer, who is an Orthopedic Surgeon and we talked about the Lord for half an hour. I'm praying that he might consider moving into our building. Pray with us, if you think of it. There wouldn't be a more wonderful doc to be there. Now I know why Dan refers everyone with ortho needs to him. He's amazing. He kept telling me how blessed he feels to be able to do what he does. Truly, whatever He has for us is something wonderful and a gift. I was reminded to be thankful for letting me stay home with my children and for the ministry that my husband has in his business.
We are so blessed. So so blessed.

Our Wild, Wet Week
So, as I'm looking back at our week, the event that sticks out WAY past the others, happened on Monday. Actually, it happened Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We only found out about it on Monday morning. Since there are only a few of you, this isn't really necessary, but Daniel owns his own business... a medical imaging center. Now, the rest of the story will make more sense.
The day that Daniel faced on Monday morning was not pretty. It was downright scary. He received a call on his way to work that our MRI room was flooded. Flooded. When he arrived, he found that it was true. There was 2-3 inches covering the floor, an inch of water covering the MRI bed and 6 ceiling tiles hanging or completely detached. I'm pretty sure my dear husband's heart almost failed in that moment.
He knew immediately what had happened. Last Saturday morning, he had Sprinkler guys working on the ceiling sprinklers. Evidently, there had been a undetected leak. By Monday, it had been leaking for almost 48 hours. So...they came back (I'm not sure if they realized the gravity of their oversight), as well as the Siemens MRI people and we cancelled all scans that morning. Daniel mopped up all the water.
That night, he dropped into his chair at the table and prayed before dinner. He was almost in tears as he thanked the Lord for protecting us that day. I still had no idea what had happened. As soon as he said "amen," he looked at me and said, "The Lord saved us from total disaster today." He explained what had happened and that the leak, which was not a drip, but a steady stream, was hitting the top of the MRI on it's left side and dripping down the left side. There was ZERO damage to the MRI because of this. If the drip was 6 inches to the right, it would have run down the right side of the machine. The right side where all the electronics are located.... and cooked the machine.
Lucky? Never.
Protected by God when we didn't even know we needed protection? Absolutely.

The Winds of Change...
I honestly do not like change. I like stability. Same old, same old. Predictability. I would NOT make a good wife for a man who had to travel for work or who had to move the family a lot. One of my new and already dear friends is moving today. Moving really far away. Their family has moved multiple times in their marriage because of the job thing... she, unlike me, is a fantastic wife and mom in these situations. It's not easy, but she knows it's the Lord's will and she is following.
It is this dear friend, who has inspired me to make change the purpose of this blog. A few years ago, she started her blog... Project 365... a project that included taking a picture a day for 365 days in a row of her family... Now, three years or so later, she has a FABULOUS running journal of the life of her growing family.
I know that my readers are few... yes, we must be honest and that really wasn't my goal in the beginning anyway... I think I didn't have much of a goal except to have a place to write and that's probably why my last post here was November 2011 :). Starting today, though, my blog is going to be dedicated to the proposition that this life is short and my kids are growing like out of control weeds and I have to record what's going on here because my memory is ALREADY not what it used to be!
So... for my few faithful, buckle up. My goal is to post a picture and something about our week every week from now until eternity. Ok, not until then, but at LEAST for the next year... until April 13, 2013. I'll call it Project 52. (52 weeks, you know :)...
